-The pitch-shifting while drumming on a mic stand came from watching a Primus show earlier that year. They played the Orpheum in Los Angeles and the entire performance is actually still on Youtube. If you go to the 40 min mark, you'll see he does a solo on a whamola. I had never seen that instrument before, but it almost looked like a percussive, note changing single string. So that night, I went home and tried to figure out how to create a similar effect with my set up which resulted in the intro to this part of the solo.
-That line "Oh you should never never doubt what no one is sure about" felt like a good mantra to repeat while composing this piece, so I ended up including it throughout this section.
-Towards the end of this clip, my clutch fell on the hi-hat stand and my natural reaction was just to smile and think, "of course my fucking hi-hat clutch falls 20 minutes into the one take I'm happy with." I was too stoked on the first part to start over, but too stubborn to edit 2 takes together, so I figured the best option was to just be honest and leave it in.

Literally the only issue I found in that album is that there seems to be a typo in the first track’s title, which went from “Copper Wasp” to “Cooper Wasp” between the EP and that release. 🙃 Alice M.

Heavy mile-a-minute Prog Metal normally isn't my thing, but these guys shred with surprising finesse, showing a healthy appreciation for nuance and melody underneath all the muscle and testosterone. neu-mann
